Safe inside your modern castle
With all the curtains drawn
Lock and key holding out a world
That you proudly claim to love
I don’t believe that you’re about
What you say that you’re about
A bleeding heart for your community?
Well, I have my doubts
As a self-selected savior,
The weight of the world ain’t much to bear
You’re making such a difference
Just by being there
I don’t believe that you’re about
What you say that you’re about
A bleeding heart for your community?
Well, I have my doubts
I don’t believe that you’re about
What you say that you’re about
And if you ever feel inclined to lump me in,
Fucking leave me out
Leave me out
You say things can’t stay the same
But you do nothing to change
Leave me out
A fantastic album. I can see why they didn't continue under the name The Evens, as it's a different sound with the bass added. Coriky is the Evens + Joe Lally from Fugazi on bass. If you can imagine The Evens with a slightly more funky, aggressive sound like Fugazi... that's what you get! And there's no way that can ever go wrong. What a great debut album!! smiledozer
